November brought a new ‘Meet your Neighbours’ event offering opportunities for people of all ages to come together to chat, laugh and eat cake. The Community Café in Sutton Veny Church is still evolving as we continue to work out what format and timing best suits most people.
Currently we are offering a monthly Community Café between 2pm and 4pm. The fact that the refreshments are provided free of charge (initially at least!) is an attempt to foster community spirit by enabling all village generations to meet up at school pick-up time using the rear of the church as the venue. The PCC is actively engaged in taking forward a project that hopefully will ensure this space is used more frequently in the future - particularly when we can make it warmer and have a loo and a kitchen to support such events.
The gatherings represent an opportunity to encourage those who do not routinely enter a church to feel comfortable in so doing. All will be warmly welcome so why not come along if you can, meet your neighbours and make new friends.
The church’s currently limited heating will be on but we encourage you to wrap up warm and also to try to avoid using your car if possible, so as not to compound the normal school pick-up time traffic.
