St Peter’s Codford – March News
Well, what a service of joy and hope that was! We hope you all enjoyed the wonderful service at St Peter’s last Sunday for Trudy’s installation as Team Rector. The picture above may have us looking all over the place, but the smiles say it all to me.
A big thank you to the large team of people who helped to make the church look beautiful and to provide such a warm welcome to all our guests. 101 people attended – one of the largest communion services we have had in a long time. That led to a bit of chaos as I had prepared neither enough wafers or wine for that many communicants! Our Rector and Archdeacon of course handled all that with aplomb: a classic example of swan-like calm on the surface while we paddled rapidly under the water…
Now we shift gear to Lent. The church looks very bare, helping us to turn our minds to the pain to come. As a reminder, the Church of England's Lent Campaign this year is #LiveLent: Care for God’s Creation. As a church committee, one of our commitments this Lent is trying to move us to be certified as an Eco Church. If you would like to know more about Eco Church, do have a look here.

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
and do not return there, but water the earth,
And make it bring forth and sprout,
That it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55. 10-11.
